Article Marketing Duplicate Content - What is the Big Deal With Duplicate Content? I

We all know that, or should know that the search engines only really want to see one copy of any particular article or content or anything like that in the high rankings of a particular keyword. And that's actually understandable. You know, if you're searching for something specific, let's say deep-sea fishing. If you're searching for information on deap-sea fishing you don't want to click on the number one website and find that you read through the article, it's not what you like, or what you're looking for. You click on the number two and it's the same article rewritten. You click on the number three one and it's the same one rewritten again. And obviously it'd be crazy if we went through all through all ten of them, but that's really what the search engines are wanting to get away from. They want original content on each one of the pages and especially the ones that show up high. So what they do is they do is they penalize web pages that are rewritten or very similar from content that's on the pages. So the question is that I get from time to time is: how much do I have to rewrite an article? How much do I need to change it? And I'm very very hesitant to ever give a number.

Let me ask you this. Let's just say that search engines right now indicate that you have to change forty percent of the words or the order of the words--or the sentences or whatever. However you want to define forty percent. Let's just say that the search engines require that right now.
