How To Get Cheap Website Traffic - The Bum Marketing Method Explained

Let's face it, you need to get traffic to your website or you will never make a dime from it. The only problem is that most new marketers have no idea how to get cheap website traffic and they also don't have a very large budget. This can make it a bit difficult to get the traffic you need, but not impossible. The bum marketing method is a great way to get not just cheap, but free website traffic. Read on to discover the bum marketing method.

Bum Marketing was created by Travis Sago and is a way that people are making lots of money without spending a single dime. The bum method includes writing article for traffic and turning that traffic into sales. The basic ideas behind bum marketing is to write your articles around a specific keyword phrase so that you can get listed on the search engines. Then, you will get traffic from the search engines and be able to create small traffic machines.

The keyword phrase you target needs to be one that people are using to search and needs to have little competition. This gives you the best chance to get listed on Google and other search engines. The advantage of this is that if you had a large amount of articles out there you could be getting a large amount of cheap website traffic. Cheap meaning that all the traffic costs you is some of your time to write the articles with the bum method.

Imagine if you wrote just one article each day for a year. You would have 365 little traffic machines creating a flood of traffic to your websites. Even if you only got 1 visitor a week from each article you would be getting 365 visits a week. If you convert one out of every 50 into a sale, then you would get about one sale each day. If each sale made you a $30 commission, then you would have created a lasting $210 income each week. Now imagine if you wrote 5 articles a day.

By creating custom articles you want to keep the attention of those reading it but also keep it short and to the point. Do not make it seem like an advertisement and don't appear to be adding filler - just make sure to include the keywords naturally in your writing.

Why should you include these certain words? The main reason is that you want the article to flag Internet search engines, which will increase your ratings at these search engines. This will lead to increased new traffic from your article's keywords.

Wise Article Marketing Strategies

If you are an article writer, you may have been submitting your articles to ezines in order to get your name out there. Ezines are wonderful in that they give the unpublished author the opportunity to market their name without the expense of advertising. At some point you may wonder if you can be compensated for your work. The answer: yes, you can. Through implementing wise marketing strategies, you can earn money for your work and receive steady income. Here's how:

Your Website If you don't already have your very own website, set one up and feature some of your favorite articles. You'll create an extra set of links to articles you already submitted to the ezines. Make sure you have a contact form in place to allow interested parties a way to get in touch with you.

Blogging A great alternative to a website are blogs. If you don't have the time or money to manage a website, you can create a blog and have links to your articles appear there.

Message Boards/Forums If you run a well respected and busy forum, consider letting your members know that you write articles as well. If you don't run a forum, but you are a moderator, ask the forum administrator for the opportunity to promote yourself in exchange for your work.

Craig's List This site is the king of all sites. You can post your resume, your small business ad, look for work, join a club, etc. In most cases no fees are ever charged and it can be a great way for you to network. At the very least, any link you place in your "ad" will quickly gain you a good link with the search engines. One caveat: most ads run from between 10 and 45 days, so you will need to manage your ads in order to remain marketable.

Paid Sites If you are serious about making some income on your articles, consider investing in yourself and joining a paid site. Many will allow you to have either a free trial period or a basic membership. To receive the full benefit of the site, you will need to upgrade. Guru.com is one such site for you to consider.

Trade Associations If you write on a specialized topic, such as railroads, contact your local trade association and see if they are in need of a staff writer. Many associations will give to you a small stipend. If not, see if you can get a free membership or some other type of discounted service for your work. Cash is cool, but free services are nice too!

Email Lists In this day of overreaching spamming, getting an email list together of people who will actually read your emails can be difficult. Instead, join a list-serv and discretely share your talents with members there.

Article writing for profit can take time and it will usually require a lot of legwork on your part before you get established. Still, it can lead to bigger and more profitable ventures for you as long as you stick with it. If you are good at it, it may allow you to quit your "day job" to pursue what you really want to do. What can be better than that?

This will not only help you position yourself as an expert on your chosen niche, it will also augment the number of your inbound links that can easily pull up your search engine ranking.

Here are the 4 incredible ways to explode your article marketing:

1. Go for original content. While it is tempting to duplicate other writers' content, you must think of prioritizing your readers and give them fresh and new content that they will surely appreciate. Besides, copying others' work can greatly ruin your online credibility and can lead to penalties from the search engines.

Identify the keywords to which your articles were based on and write a compelling article summary that will drive online users to check on your content. Use the preview feature of each publishing sites to ensure that all your links are working and that there is a proper spacing within you content to that make them easy on the eyes.

The Power Of Link Building

The Web is built on links, and a solid link building strategy is absolutely essential for any business that wants to thrive online. In essence links that point back to your site do two things: they bring you targeted traffic and they enhance your search engine rankings.

By placing your links on another site that is related to your content, you can bring visitors to your site who are interested in the sort of content you offer. And Google, king of the search engines, places more value (and therefore greater rankings) on sites with multiple links pointing back to them.

I'm sure you've heard just about every urban myth imaginable regarding the right way vs. the wrong way to generate links back to your site. Let's forget about all the hoopla for now and look at the simple basics that apply to a good link building campaign.

The first obvious step is to identify placings that offer you targeted exposure. If you have a Website about auto repair tips, you need to find sites and directory categories pertaining to auto repair and place your links there.

Simple enough right? So let's focus on some of the specific types of sites you should be looking to get links from.

Link Directories:

This almost goes without saying, but just to be safe I'll include it. One way link directories are a good place to submit your links.

Avoid services that offer to broker reciprocal linking between you and other Webmasters, as these programs are often viewed as link farms by Google and can get your site booted from the search engine rankings.

Article Submission:

A fantastic way to acquire links back to your site is to write articles related to your site content and submit these to article directories and newsletter publishers. At the end of each article you write you'll include a resource box (see mine below) that provides links back to your Website.

Forum Signatures:

Join forums that are related to the theme of your site and get involved in the discussion. Please do not join a forum and just post a blatant ad about your site, as this will get you ridiculed and possibly deleted; actually join in the conversations, and include a link to your website in your forum signature.

Blog Comments:

You definitely need a blog of your own, but that's a subject for other articles. In this piece about link building I want you to understand the power of simply posting comments on other people's blogs.

Find 10 to 20 blogs that relate to your website, and bookmark them or subscribe to their RSS feeds. A few times each week, visit these blogs and post comments on some of the more interesting articles.

You see, when you fill out the comment form you will be asked for your name and website URL, so you can create a hyperlink with your name or business name that leads right back to your site. Be sure that your comments are legitimate contributions and not just some silly ad for your website.

As blogs are often updated regularly, and have many incoming links to them, your comments (and therefore your link backs) are likely to receive a lot of traffic from search engine spiders and real people. So blog comments are a simple but very powerful method for linking back to your site.

Take the contents of this article and put them to use. This is a totally easy, but definitely effective outline for starting a long-term link building campaign that will bring you lots of traffic and good standing with the search engines.

Over Optimization and the OOP - Does a Penalty Exist?

If you have questions about whether or not the Over-Optimization Penalty (OOP) exists or not, then you obviously haven't pushed the limits enough with your own website optimization or organic SEO efforts to have experienced the joys of running into the OOP (Over-Optimization Penalty).

I'm sure you're probably thinking: "prove it". If that's what you're thinking, let me tell you about a specific example of what I call the Over-Optimization Penalty, or OOP:

Over-Optimization penalty because of too much anchor text. You decide that your site is not ranking well. So, you change the navigation on your site so that all the home page links say "keyword keyword home" instead of "home". A few days later you lose your rankings, which is a serious blow to your traffic. Since that was the only thing you changed on your site you change those links to your home page back so it says, "home" instead of "keyword keyword home". BINGO! All of your lost rankings and your lost traffic comes back a few days later.

If that's not proof of an over-optimization penalty then I don't know what is--I would call that an OOP: you do something to try to boost your rankings by over optimizing some element of your website, something that backfires and causes a loss of rankings.

I personally can name tons of other examples just like this that prove that there's an OOP.

One more thing--I think that you can over-optimize a web page or site without going as far as actually spamming. In the example above, I truly believe that having too much of the same anchor text isn't spamming, it's just over-optimization. Spamming, in my book, would be something like keyword stuffing or something like repeating a keyword over and over again. Over optimization is different than spamming.

White Hat, Gray Hat, and Black Hat Whether or not you think the OOP (an over-optimization penalty) exists depends on what type of "hat" you wear.

If you're a true "white hat" SEO that won't dare test the limits then you're going to believe that the OOP doesn't exist. After all, you'll never experience any over-optimization penalties because you won't dare do anything that would possibly have a negative effect on search engine rankings.

If you're a true "grey hat" SEO then you've definitely experienced the OOP, just like I've described in a previous post. For example, you've gone a little too heavy on your anchor text so you have to "back off" on using your keywords in the anchor text. Or, you realize that your keyword density on a page is too high--OOPS! you've just experienced the over-optimization penalty (OOP).

If you're a true "black hat" SEO then you definitely know that there's a difference between an over-optimization penalty and being a spammer. If you've never had a site banned in a search engine then you're not a true "black hat" SEO. And if you've experienced rankings that have suddenly vanished because of too much over-optimization then yes, you probably believe in the OOP, just like I do.

There is a very big difference between over-optimization and spamming. Spamming will get your site banned. Over-optimization will not. The "penalty", if you will, is a loss of search engine rankings due to over-optimization. Thus, that's what gray hat and black hat Search Engine Optimization Specialists call the OOP.

Secret is Out - How Google Ranks Websites

All the secrets and information is about to be unleashed. The mystery is over and the secrets are open to showing you how your website is ranked through Google

Links have always played a significance in determining sites value. Links pointing towards your site help evaluate the value of a document. The more links pointing towards something of significance is shown as a greater value. Though, search engines continue to add some additional standards to always keep ahead of the game.

In the precise years, the amount of incoming traffic or links have reached higher results, but a additional twist has been rather or not the incoming traffic is quality and benefit searchers. This kind of action was becoming very popular, with a lot of black hat seo tricks which made it harder for searchers to find what they were looking for. And the end result was poor quality for search engines.

Due to this kind of action, a trend of long lastly domain names and sites playing more of a factor in quality and links. Search engines have picked up on this idea, and are starting to track the age of a not only a domain, but always so what content the site holds. This factor is stop the idea of building a website one day, and the next day to have hundreds of links the next. Search Engines are looking for more natural link building instead of automatic computer generated links.

The idea of age with the mix of lasting good quality history of content and links are helping fight against the spam sites. Spam sites can be built in seconds with hundreds of links, and could be up and running fine one day and the next day they are completely gone. The less life or age of a site that has been up and running on the Internet is not very interesting to the search engines these days.

Search engines are monitoring how long the site has been up and running, the quality of good content, is it helping people information that they are looking for, and the process of adding valued links. Over time and as your website grows you will also want to continue building different titles for your links.

Over time search engines will frown upon the same old text in a link. The idea behind this is the fact that no no is actually adding or changing new titled links. For example, hotel rooms is repeated over and over, and is not changed over time this will decrease. Search engines are looking for the new and fresh content, so the idea of changing titles or link anchors is highly recommended through the years. Ideally, it's suggested to add keywords and keyword titles in your link anchors using some of the 5 -7 keywords. This helps keep clean, focused traffic and ranking.

So for the keyword hotel rooms we could add other keyword titles such as: * cheap hotels
* discount hotels
* hotel reservations
* hotel rates
* hotel deals

This helps keep things focused on hotels and hotel rooms while adding a great mix of different keyword titles. To be successful these days and at the top of search engines you must stop thinking today of instant links, link spam, and creating instant traffic and start thinking long term slow building process.

Major Roles are Still Niche of Keywords

The placing of keywords through out quality content is the best way to go. Picking the proper keywords to be placed on your pages, links, and tags are still a very vital play in your websites success. Again, freshness is mostly what search engines update so with this in mind continue to check and change keywords throughout your site. It has been suggested by several search engines that 5% to 7% keyword density per page. Also, don't get to many keywords per page, it's all about targeting and focus one or two similar keywords.

Continue to Update Regularly

The question here is when was that last time your site has been updated or changed? If the answer is over a month than you have your work cut of for you. The original idea again is long term process, so it's not making site with all this content from the start and just letting it sit and do nothing. It's slowly adding and building information over time.

The search engines are looking for a website that is fresh and that will stay fresh. So for example you update your site with 20 new pages at the beginning of every month, but don't touch until next month. This type of behavior is picked up by the search engines and may not be keep your site stable. Though, where a site is adding content on a weekly or daily and is keeping content steadily coming this could be seen by search engines as stable. Slow and steady wins over the search engines.

Experts have stated in the past that trying new keywords or updated content goes a lot farther than hit or miss changes to your website. Put yourself in a Internet user, do you continue to visit the page that never changes are you visiting the sites that update with news, information, and etc. Which one do you feel is more appealing to visitors and search engines? Though, the idea of updating and changing your old pages makes it fleshing to your visitors.

Now don't get us wrong and go changing all your old out dated website pages. While your website is drawing pretty good traffic and continues to increase that's a great sign that your doing the right thing. What's not broke don't fix it. Though, if you have notices this page or that page slow decreasing than it might be time to do some keyword adjusting or a fresh update.

Domain Age

This is a new and fresh idea that domain age is becoming more appealing to search engines. The idea is coming from long, quality, process of building a great site.

Search engines are looking and liking more and more consistency even in the domain name. With this suggest don't be completely afraid to change your websites domain name. Though note that this is a new factor that search engines are going to be looking for more. Also, look into special rates of long term domain registration, and this could save you some money as well. Lastly, note that changing hosting has no effort on any search engine ranking or anything.

Word Press Tip

Here are two easy and piratical ways of building quality links while using word press.

1.) Link to Me Text box plug in - this is a simple word press plug in which gives visitors the option to link to your website, this is a great way to get you more links and even higher ranking in the search engines.

2.) Setup Links Manager so that your blog roll links will change. That's right, this is a simple step to take in adding uniqueness to your blogs. Adding these two features on your word press blog will continue to build that process towards link building that the search engines are looking for.

CTR

CTR or click through rate, plays another aspect of what search engines record and add into the overall ranking of your website. To fully understand CTR is number of times visitors actually click through to your website. This type of information or the CTR helps determine how you come to visit the website. Meaning did the current visitor type in a keyword from a search engine and than click to your website, or was it from a link from another site, or etc. Also, CTR is always looking for new and fresh content and what is being visited the most.

Visitors Behavior, Traffic Record, and YourselfVisitors coming back around or not are always checked. Search engines are always checking how much time is spent on your website, where did your visitors come from, are your visitors clicking through sites or ads, and bookmarking your site. Along with what popular searches or keywords are your visitors typing in to come to your website.

Traffic is recorded telling search engines which websites and pages are drawing your visitors.

But yourself also plays a key role in determining how successful your website will be towards the search engines. For examples, does the site information match up to the information that you added on the domain registration? The geographic of our site could help your focus target.

Have you ever had or checked into making sure your IP host address is safe and not being shared with any slammers. That's right, more more slammers are coming along and if they happen to be on your IP host address this could penalize your site as well.

Looking professional is a must in aspects of spelling, grammar, organization, and good solid code or CSS design are all a must for success.

What's Hot and What's Not

Search Engines are becoming smarter and smarter, and now even following what's hot and what's not in our culture, our searches, and etc. Such as, What's Hot right now is "American Idol" and yes still "Sanjaya", or it's now currently the NBA playoffs. Though these are only fads or trends in our culture. So if your website is dealing with spring or summer fads or treads, note that come winter your site could be a little slower. Yet, incorporating keywords that will add quality to your site, and are of trend or fad could add popularity and character to your website, but just don't over do it and keep them up to date with current trends.

SEO Tactics 2008

The internet world is again changing very fast and that always means that you have to be looking at your online business on a very aggressive schedule. Gone are the days when you can set and forget tactics. The internet business requires that you constantly evolve with the major players to make a living. In real terms this means adjusting your site on weekly monthly basis to adapt to the new strategies within the internet world.

This involves dropping the out of date methods of internet marketing and working with systems like social bookmarking and other tactics that allow you to obtain a method of getting your new site indexed and starting to attract traffic. Many sites provide the social networking scripts it's a good idea to use one that has the Yahoo icon as this can be used to bring the Yahoo search engine spider to your site.

The method is fairly straight forward. You have a Yahoo account. You create and upload your site and then click on the Yahoo icon which allows you to add your new site to your Yahoo page. When you have added this new page to your Yahoo account you can then go ahead and ping Yahoo and this brings their spider to your site it will then start to index your pages. With clever use of social networking tools the idea to add your site to as many as the social networking sites and then ping the page you can find a whole swarm of new visitors being attracted in this manner.

It is also possible to use other methods to attract new web site visitors. In the old days it was possible to send out an article to about 180 sites and watch it slowly bring in links, this system has been cut short in recent times by the search engines getting more efficient at identifying duplicate content on a website. A lot of early methods were to grab content from article sites and then throw some keywords into a RSS feed generator put AdSense and Kontera text ads in to it and sit back and take the money.

These days if you wish to embark on this behaviour you will find that most articles lose the power after a very quick time. The search engines will eventually also be able to spot articles that have been through generators that change words throughout the document. The search engines need to survive and they will only survive providing that they present the ordinary customer with the best result possible so if you intend to create Adsense scraping sites you should see that eventually the income will drop as the low quality sites will be removed or de indexed.

There is still a good living to be made on AdSense you just have to put in the effort that is required and example of which is to generate your own content that is long tail keyword related and build a site that does offer the user an answer that a user was looking for with them keywords. To this end there is still a vast amount of niches to exploit but you have to work harder for your money.

This year has seen the launch of quite a few major products in generating automated streams of income - most people who take these up will fail because at the time it all seems a good idea however the second a launch takes place, the search engines take action to eliminate the advantage. The real deal is to make your own content, targeted to specific keywords and build links of quality that is closely related to your niche.

This year will see a lot of difference in the tactics of search engines and a greater amount of quality websites being indexed and a large amount of scraper sites biting the dust. Websites are a long hard tactical ever changing business but the bottom line is quality will show through in the end. If you are in it for the fast buck then look somewhere else.

Christmas Gift Articles - Write Marketing Concepts that Market Christmas Gifts

You know how to get traffic, but you'd like to have more seasonal traffic. So, what's up with that? Can't you think of anything to write?

Almost anything you write about Christmas can be a marketing article. You just have to use keywords (pssst, the keyword for Christmas is... you guessed it, Christmas!) and post them frequently throughout your article. Tell everyone about your topic and put in some information they may not ever have known before.

My favorite article so far is one I wrote about Christmas Gifts. I simply titled it Christmas Gifts and then added in numerous references to gifts I'd purchase for different family members, friends, and others on my Christmas list. How hard can that be?

Amazing Article Marketing - Latest 5 Rewarding Methods to Jumpstart Your Article Marketing

Article marketing is getting so much attention these days. Webmasters from all over the globe agree that this is one of the most reliable traffic-generating techniques that does not only bring steady traffic, but more importantly, it pulls up a website's search engine ranking. In addition, this technique is widely used by webmasters who would like to show their expertise to their target market.

If you are a new webmaster who would like to get the benefits mentioned above, these latest 5 rewarding methods can definitely help you out:

1. Post your picture and your author's bio on major publishing sites. If you are aiming at establishing personal relationship with your potential clients, this is one effective way to get you started. Post some information that will convince your readers that you are an expert on your field. Do not forget to post your recent picture so they can associate the personal information with a face.

2. Widely distribute your articles. Do not limit yourself to publishing sites; you can also submit your articles to blogs, websites, and ezine. This is the best way to syndicate your articles and give them maximum exposure.

3. Write quality articles. Remember, the success of your article marketing campaign relies heavily on the quality of your articles. As such, it is important to proofread your articles to make sure they are easy to understand, useful, concise, and informative before you submit them to publishing sites.

4. Write more. To get more quality inbound links to your website, write and submit as many articles as you can. Just make sure that all articles are related to the product or service that you promote so you can easily drive visitors to your website to check what you offer.

5. Pick the best publishing sites. In submitting your articles, it is important to consider the page ranking of the submission sites. If they are not even indexed by Google, take them out from your list. They cannot in anyway help you generate traffic to your website.
